ABOUT US

We are a Christian Co-op that meets approximately twice a month on Fridays.  During the course of each regular session there is a worship time for everyone, recess for the students and a prayer time for the parents. Every family is expected to have one attending parent every time we meet, and all parents are expected to either lead teach, assist teach, or take a leadership role in the co-op.

S.T.A.R.S. provides classes for students’ pre-k to senior high school, as well as a nursery for infants and toddlers.  Occasionally, S.T.A.R.S. will host volunteer teachers who donate their time.  Some classes, because of materials, may cost families additional money.  S.T.A.R.S. desires to keep family cost’s down, so families can budget accordingly.  Any fees are to be provided within the classroom syllabus.  As always, prices are only to cover the costs of books or materials.  Twice a year, S.T.A.R.S. hosts a local homeschooling photographer for families to purchase school pictures.  At the end of the year this photographer takes group and classroom photos for the yearbook.

S.T.A.R.S. is multi-denominational; however, all classes are funneled through the Christian Worldview.  As a co-op, we simply stick to doctrinal truths found in the Scriptures that all denominations agree upon.

Classes change from year to year to reflect the desires and ability of the group.  Moreover, S.T.A.R.S. endeavors to provide areas which may be cumbersome for families but are required by Pennsylvania state home school law.  Requirements such as music, PE, civics, public speaking and art.  While these classes are not available yearly, they are an often used and flexible favorite within our group.

Because of S.T.A.R.S. ministry focus S.T.A.R.S. offers additional events to enrich the educational quality of students.  These events are free to members and available to nonmembers at a low cost.  Some events are limited in space; therefore, members get priority consideration.  Member only events are: Open House (for members and prospective members), the Christmas Program, and Fine Arts Festival.  Events that are open to non-members are: Winter Fun Day (additional cost to all families), Curriculum share (free to all families), Safety Day (membership benefit and low cost to nonmember families).

Below is a PFD file of S.T.A.R.S. procedures and protocals.  This explains in some detail what is expected in members and their children.

“Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.”  Philippians 2:14 & 15 NASV
