Students Training As Righteous Servants
Safety Day
This public event hosted by S.T.A.R.S. in the spring to assist the homeschooling community in satisfying Pennsylvania homeschool law requirements in training their children in safety and the prevention of fires. Safety Day is free for members as a benefit of membership.
Curriculum Share
This public event is held in the spring as a ministry to the homeschooling community to allow families to explore different curricula that S.T.A.R.S. members have used. This allows interaction between member and visitors who may have additional questions about homeschool materials and Pennsylvania Homeschool law. Members are encouraged to bring portfolios to show families curious about them.
Fine Arts Festival
This event is designed to give students an opportunity to perform in front of an audience, to celebrate their accomplishments and a time of celebration for S.T.A.R.S. graduates. S.T.A.R.S. encourages members to invite friends and family to this enjoyable evening event.
Chritmas Program
The Christmas program is a yearly end-of-semester event in which we gather to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The choir sings a cantata for families to enjoy followed by an evening pot-luck meal.
Camping
Each year in August, STARS members can gather together for a weekend of camping. The cost is kept low and each family is expected to bring food to the campsite to share communally. The date and location of the camping trip is located on the STARS calendar. Cost of the camping event is dependent on the number of participating families.
WE ARE NOT JUST ABOUT CLASSES
Open House
The Open House provides and introduction to classes for the next year for members and prospective members. This event takes place in the evening and is open to the entire family. The event is pot luck and families can enjoy a relaxed social environment while becoming acquainted with other families.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of S.T.A.R.S. events. This group is extremely social and will endeavor to find any excuse to get together! We offer a monthly Mom’s Night Out [MNO]. MNO is an evening gathering of mom’s in local coffee shops. There is no child care available. Locations are announced monthly, however, dates are established on the calendar. Additionally, S.T.A.R.S. offers a family movie night. Family’s attend this pot-luck event and enjoy social time and a movie. During the summer, S.T.A.R.S. hosts monthly play dates in area parks. Times are locations are announced monthly.
